Demons and ghosts are far from being the same other than 99% of the time you will never see either. While both are a type of spirit there are a few important distinction. To start off a ghost is the spirit of a person who was once alive, whereas a demon is a spirit that was never alive, and always existed in the supernatural realm.
Whenever you hear of a person being attacked or a haunted location the majority of the time the ruckus is caused by a demon who is bored or looking for somebody to possess. Ghosts on the other hand usually are quite friendly or don't even know they are dead. If you ever have an experience where you lost something and couldn't find it only to have it miraculously turn up or have a dish you dropped that should've broken but didn't those are things that ghosts will do for you.
To simplify it: ghosts are good demons are bad. When you watch the paranormal shows on TV and something happens if it's not fake the majority of the time it's just a demon messing around.
Don't get me wrong there are bad ghosts but usually, they can't figure out how to do anything that affects the living. There are cases where ghosts have done negative things in the past but they're as rare as people walking on the moon.
