The Day of the Dead (Día de Los Muertos in Spanish) is a holiday celebrated mainly in Mexico and by people of Mexican heritage (and others) living in the United States and Canada. The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and relatives who have died.
The Day of the Dead is Celebrated in connection with the Catholic holy days of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day which take place on those days. Traditions include building private altars honoring the deceased, using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed, and visiting graves with these as gifts.
I hate The Day of the Dead with a passion. You see when more people’s “spirit eyes” are open ghosts become stronger and the ones that I see on a daily basis love to play practical jokes on me because for The Day of the Dead and the power caused by extra believers ghosts can corporalise and I can’t tell sa real person from a ghost.
Anyway. I guess even the dead are entitled to a holiday and anything that will lead to more people realizing there is life after death is ok with me.
