Sarah Winchester, an affluent widow, constructed the one hundred sixty room Victorian Winchester mansion in 1884. It embodied such an unprecedented task that construction workers worked on the home 24 hours a day 7 days a week for 38 years. TheWinchester Mansion has many eccentric features, built to shut out evil spirits, including fake doors, a room constructed just to hold séances in (where Sarah claimed the building plans that ghosts sent to her were came from) and a staircase that goes to the ceiling, and many supernatural happenings have been said to have happened in this location.
Sarah Winchester reportedly spoke to spirits of those killed by Winchester guns every night at midnight and since then people have reported organ music in the Blue Room where Sarah died, apparitions, cold spots, a smell of chicken soup in the kitchen, red balls of light and more. Nowadays visitors can take tours of the mansion (including special nighttime flashlight tours).
I visited this house and yes it is haunted but the only ghost there is that of Sarah Winchester and she isn’t skilled enough yet to voice her presence so I believe most of the supernatural occurrences actually are hoax’s or natural explainable occurrences.
